Episode 22 - Top 5 Political Films In Cinema

A longer episode for those longer nights...

Gregor and Ian are joined by Gregor’s brother Craig, who suggested a podcast discussing our top 5 films that represent politics in Cinema. Recorded in early May, Craig who is a fervent podcast listener, who has followed The Wrap Chat from the beginning, finally achieved one of his dreams… to appear in a podcast. Well each to their own we say. For your further interest, we have listed below some of the people Craig mentions in the show.

It may be political in subject, but no families have been broken, no friendships have been lost and no careers have been ruined thus far in the making of this episode, although a few animals manage to make statements along the way. Our irreverence is such that we still manage to have a laugh along the way.

Craig’s starter for this stuff would be Matt Ridley.

He is a brilliant man who studies and writes on various subjects, human development, climate change and evolution.

Craig thoroughly recommends his book “The Rational Optimist” and suggests giving a look to “The Evolution of Everything”.

The Youtube link below takes you (hopefully) to a very easy to understand talk he did to Idea City a think tank.

It really is a brilliant talk and is not long.

You can also find him on the James Dellingpole Podcast.

The others of note are Bjorn Lomborg

Lomborg put together a team of 12 economists to put a value on the UN’s Millenium goals.

A real expert on this stuff.

Enjoy!

Episode 21 Montgomery Clift

In our latest episode Ian is with Richard Addison, discussing the life and filmography of Montgomery Clift. An extremely talented but sadly troubled actor who was nominateed four times for an academy award, Montgomery Clift was one of the first young actors to populate the fledgling and now legendary Actors Studio. Not so much an in-depth biography as it is a discussion about his acting style and how his acting practice, resonated with his contemporaries and influenced many in the generations that followed.
